Central to the exploration is the examination of love's portrayal in modern media, where it often appears deceptive and idealized. From heartbreaking ballads to romanticized depictions on screen, love is presented as something both elusive and easily attainable, leading to a dichotomy of fear and longing. I want to dissect this dichotomy, exploring the intertwined relationship between love and grief, recognizing that where there is love, there is also the potential for loss and sorrow.

A common coping mechanism for grief is humor. The use of memes in popular media serves as a relatable and “real” form of communication, allowing people to cope with grief through comedy. These moments, often found in digital media and consumption, reveal how humor can be a tool for processing both love and grief. This project will examine how these humorous representations can reflect shared experiences of love and pain
